The National Association is delighted to announce a forward-looking conference to discuss and explore the vital contribution that parish and town councillors make to community governance, leadership and empowerment. Keynote speakers and spotlight session themes include:
The day's keynote address will come from Pharmjit Dhanda MP, under-secretary of state, DCLG. Given the amount of positive activity taking place between the DCLG and the parish and town council sector over recent months this should prove to be a useful insight into the state of play within central government, and what we as a sector need to put in place to drive us further up the political agenda.
Dr Jane Roberts, chair of the influential Commission on Councillors will be outlining the findings of the final report. It is believed that the Commission’s report will have a heavy influence on the DCLG’s burgeoning ‘community empowerment’ agenda.
Similarly, the CRC, will be unveiling the findings of its participation inquiry. Also there will be spotlight sessions on political skill for councillors, training and development, community leadership in urban areas, and lesson learnt from Europe. For more information download the draft programme.
