On 17 September all Direct Access Councils were e-mailed to communicate the availability of four places on the NALC Larger Local Councils’ Committee (LLCC) for the period 2009-11. The application period is now over and there have been nine applications. Please click the names of the candidates below to view their nomination papers.

Larger Local Councils all have the right to vote for elections to this Committee, so I would encourage you to read the nine PDF application documents.
You then have one of two options - to vote by Post or Voting at Empowered Communities:
Voting by Post
You can vote by post, completing the voting paper:

Please insert a X in the cell in the right hand column of the form – you can vote for no more than four candidates. The clerk then needs to sign and date the bottom of the form writing in also the name of his/her council. Then, put your completed voting form into an envelope, seal it and send it back to:
Katie Bannister
National Association of Local Councils
109 Great Russell Street
London
WC1B 3LD,
writing in block capitals the words - LARGER LOCAL COUNCILS’ COMMITTEE ELECTIONS - over the seal of the envelope.
If you do this, please make sure that the completed form is with Katie by at the latest 17:00 on Tuesday, 17 November, 2009.
Voting at Empowered Communities
If you are attending the NALC Empowered Communities event on 2 December in London, collect a voting form from NALC Registration. You can then hear the candidates speak at the Committee Hustings - this takes place between 16:10 and 16:40 on Wednesday, 2 December, at the venue. You can then physically vote by marking an X in the right hand column for a maximum of four candidates – and putting your completed slip in the ballot box which will again be on the NALC Reception area at the venue. All physical ballots have to be submitted by 17:00 on 2 December, if you pursue this option.
Do remember that your council only has one vote for these elections, and councils must not vote by both methods mentioned above.
Postal ballots are then added to physical ballots at the venue, an independent adjudicator oversees the final count of both sets and the four candidates with the most votes each get onto the Committee for a period of two years. The final results will be posted up at the venue at 17:30 and Cllr. Cleary, Chairman of the Committee, will announce the results of the election at 17:20, on 2 December.
