The Youth of Today
Local Councillor Shadowing programme
The British Youth Council is inviting councils to participate in ‘The Youth of Today’ Local Council Shadowing programme, due to be launched in autumn this year. The initiative is aimed at young people aged 13-19 who are under represented and/or disadvantaged and will provide them with the chance to shadow their local representatives.
It is hoped that the initiative will help young participants to gain knowledge and skills and facilitate their involvement in the democratic process and expose councillors to the issues faced by young people today. Further details of the initiative can be found in the documents and weblinks below.
