Defra’s online information hub for rural community halls managers

Defra launched its ‘Community Halls for Rural People’ website in December 2005.  This information hub has been designed to help managers of community halls to benefit from the variety of funding opportunities available.  It has been set up in partnership with Action with Communities in Rural England. 

The website contains information on and links to funding sources.  There are contact details for people seeking advice and support from experts such as ACRE and the Rural Community Councils, as well as a list of relevant government bodies for direct advice on regulations. Success stories and news will be added and updated regularly.

It is a dynamic website, therefore community hall managers are urged to visit it periodically to check for additional and up-to-date information on funding, legislation and policy.
