NALC tells the government local councils should remain on park authorities

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) has told the government that local (parish and town) councils on national park authority boards should be retained at their current levels.

NALC has responded to the Department for Food, Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) consultation on the Landscapes Review. NALC urged that local council representation on national park authority boards should not be reduced, and local councils are a strong link between their communities and the governance boards on national park authorities.

NALC also stated that the government should make proper funding available to ensure that national park areas are protected from unsustainable tourism.
