The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) attended the UK Finance parliamentary event on 5 December 2023 on raising the banking challenges local (parish and town) councils face.

To address the growing concerns surrounding banking services for local councils, NALC chair Cllr Keith Stevens spoke with the managing director of UK Finance, bank representatives, and several parliamentarians, emphasising local councils' challenges in their banking transactions.

UK Finance plans to launch a dedicated web portal designed to assist small and community organisations. This initiative should gradually alleviate the challenges faced by local councils and other community bodies in their banking operations. NALC will provide more information on this development when it becomes available.

NALC encourages local councils to continue sharing problems with banking services by contacting .
