The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) chaired the Women in Local Government event by Dods Diversity & Inclusion on 28 February 2024.

Amidst the dynamic landscape of local governance, NALC's head of member services, Charlotte Eisenhart, was chair at the highly anticipated Women in Local Government event. With an unwavering spirit and a keen eye for progress, she spearheaded a gathering to transcend barriers and empower women across the local government sector.

The event attracted a diverse array of women, hailing from various corners of the local governance domain. Eager to engage in dialogue and exchange insights, attendees converged with a shared purpose to strategise ways to overcome obstacles hindering women's advancement and career development amid times of flux.

The event looked at identifying the unique leadership challenges and opportunities facing women in local government, how women negotiate for what they need to be influential leaders, gaining a deeper understanding of the skills, qualities and attributes required to be a successful leader, raising the visibility of women as senior leaders in local government, and creating a lasting network of women leaders who are effecting change across local government.

Following hugely successful events in London, Manchester and online over the past three years, Women in Local Government returned this year to offer practical advice and coaching on addressing the barriers affecting progression and further career development in times of change.
