NALC fringe at LGA Annual Conference: Devo Local

6th July

6-7pm, Purbeck Bar, Bournemouth International Conference

Is devolution working?

Is the government being localist or radical enough in their approach?

How do parish and town councils fit in?

And where next for devolution?

LGC editor Nick Golding will be ‘in conversation’ with a range local government leaders and experts to discuss these questions and more. At the moment there appears to be a silence on the role of communities and neighbourhoods within the Government’s Devo Deals. This fringe will look at how we could put this right by handing more control and a greater say to local people, parish and town councils.

Panel members:

- Baroness Jane Scott, Peer and leader of Wiltshire County Council

- Cllr Neil Clarke, chair of District Councils Network

-  Jonathan Owen, chief executive of the National Association of Local Councils

- Cllr Candy Atherton, Falmouth Town Council and Cornwall Council

- Mark Rogers, chief executive of Birmingham City Council
