Wells City Council
The City of Wells, in the heart of Somerset, is seeking a driven, forward-thinking and aspirational city clerk to lead the council into a new era of growth and aspiration. The council is already managing and maintaining a number of local services, assets and facilities, and now has a large devolution package moving to it from April 2025 from the Somerset Unitary Authority.
This is going to have the effect of expanding the council by around 50% to a budget of about £2.1 million per annum, with a commensurate rise in staff numbers as well.
Such a change, alongside working with an aspirational set of councillors, means that this is a somewhat rare and hugely exciting opportunity for somebody who relishes not just a big challenge but can also see the enormous benefits that this move will bring to the beautiful City of Wells.
