New pay award for local government workers

NALC welcomes the new agreement for a pay deal for local council officers and workers.

This agreement covers the period 2016 – 2018.

The agreement, for workers in local government, schools and most academies in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, includes one per cent wage rises for each of the next two years, and more for lower paid employees.

Chairman of NALC, Cllr Ken Browse said: "We are pleased that an agreement has now been reached between the employers representatives and employee trade unions. It is a reward for our hard working employees who are working alongside elected members to make a positive difference in our communities."
