Rural Housing Policy Review

The Rural Housing Policy Review Group, Chaired by Lord Richard Best OBE DL, launched its report – A Fair Deal for Rural Communities – at the House of Lords on Monday 23 February.

The Review Group was set up to consider whether progress has been made in taking forward the clear recommendations from the series of excellent reports into affordable rural housing published in the last decade. The clear conclusion is that the next generation of people who need to live and work in rural communities face a tougher future than ever.

With two thirds of rural-based people thinking politicians do not care about the issue of providing affordable housing in rural areas this report has some clear messages for the policy makers in advance of the general election.
