The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) has opened up the nominations to its Larger Councils Committee for candidates for 2020.

The committee represents the policy interests of all larger local (parish and town) councils in England. It oversees NALC's work programme for larger local councils including its crucial work on referendum principles, business rates and the annual NALC Study Tour. All councillors and clerks serving larger local councils wanting to influence NALC 's policies and the support it provides to larger local councils should visit the elections webpage more information.

The committee has an exciting spread of representation from the local council sector with vacancies for councillor (four places are available) and clerk (two places are available).

Cllr Sue Baxter, chairman of NALC said: “I have been a long-standing member of this committee and have seen the difference it makes. This is where the real growth in local government is coming from. Join the committee now and help to shape policy in your larger council area.”

Cllr Paul Harvey, chair of NALC's Larger Councils Committee said: “Now is the time to make your voice heard for larger councils. Re-organising local government has seen the creation of many new and dynamic larger councils in England. Stand for election to this committee and join that proud endeavour.”

Voting will take place online from 23 September until 15 November 2019 (more information to be announced). Results will be announced on 18 November 2019.
