Bill Grimsey (formerly of Iceland and Wickes) will join NALC's online event, Leaders’ talk: Building back stronger communities on 25 August 2020.

Mr Grimsey will talk about his latest report Build, Back, Better, repairing the neglected social fabric of high streets, the need for a shift power away from government to local communities, and the importance of local leadership and the role local (parish and town) councils can play in developing high streets.

Mr Grimsey is a retired retailer with 45 years experience. During his career he held roles at Budgens, Tesco, Park’n’Shop (Hong Kong’s leading supermarket chain), Wickes, Iceland and Focus DIY. He led the publications of The Grimsey Review in 2013 and 2018 into the high street. He is also the author of Sold Out: Who Killed the High Street.

Mr Grimsey will be joined on the panel by Cllr James Jamieson, chairman of the Local Government Association, and Cllr Sue Baxter, chairman of NALC.
