Newquay Town Council is looking for an environmental services manager to join their team.
Newquay Town Council has a vacancy for an environment service manager. This role is responsible for the upkeep of footpaths and open spaces in and around Newquay. The service routinely maintains the Killacourt, Eothen, Piazza, Beachfield Gardens and the Marcus Hill estate. The team is also responsible for introducing and maintaining new planting schemes and planters around Newquay, and also deals with other environmental and horticultural issues that fall outside of Cornwall Council’s remit. Aside from the services’ planned maintenance programme, it also undertakes reactive work involving tip-offs from the public on areas of the town that would benefit from some much-needed improvement.
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing and managing the environment service and the proactive response to tackling open space and footpath maintenance issues of town council assets as well as those that cannot be addressed by other authorities. The post holder is also responsible for managing the enforcement officers in regard to the enforcement of local policy and legislation regarding littering, dog bans, dog fouling and town council car parks.
The post holder will be 37 hours a week Monday to Sunday involving working Bank/Public holidays where the service demands.
