The council is seeking an organised and community aware person to support and deputise for the town clerk and responsible financial officer. You will proactively assist in the development, promotion and implementation of the council’s policies, strategic plans and services in this historic waterfront market town. Under the direction of the town clerk, you will ensure that the management and administration of the council’s statutory functions, financial affairs and projects are carried out effectively.
The position is for 37 hours per week and is based on NJC pay scales for SCP 29 to 32 (£32, 910 - £35,745) depending on qualifications and experience, plus contributory membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
The successful candidate must have good office-based organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a small team. Core duties will include but are not limited to, managing the upkeep of the council’s land and assets, liaising with outside contractors and members of the public, running payroll, spearheading the council’s social media activities, taking minutes and assisting in the preparation of agendas and reports.
