Help NALC celebrate International Women's Day

WOMEN

On 8 March 2022, the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) will celebrate International Women's Day, a global day celebrating women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements.

NALC is creating a video to showcase women in the local (parish and town) council sector to mark the day. We call for women councillors, clerks, and council staff members to submit their video contributions.

Contributions should be no more than ten seconds long and will involve holding a sign with your name, council and a sentence on what you are doing for your community. We will then compile them into a video celebrating the women working in our sector.

NALC has provided instructions and an example video to help. We hope to see as many women from the sector as possible represented. The deadline for submitting videos is 28 February 2022.

This year's International Women's Day theme is Break The Bias. It refers to deliberate and unconscious biases that make it difficult for women to move ahead and encourage action on behalf of organisations and individuals to level the playing field.

NALC's recent elections survey report shows that 38% of our most recently elected councillors were women.
