10 and 11 June 2019

NALC is opening up its annual study tour to all once again! This year we will be going to Bishop’s Stortford Town Council in Hertfordshire. You will find out more about the council's community transport for adult social care offer, as well as how it manages its wider portfolio and the challenges it faces.

This unique opportunity will give insight into why Bishop’s Stortford is one of England’s most innovative market towns. The combination of old and new, architectural treasures, modern shopping centres and in close proximity to some of the country's greatest houses and villages, makes for an ideal location to visit, work and live.

You will get exclusive behind the scenes access to Bishop’s Stortford Town Council, meeting councillors and officers, and visiting essential sites. Some of the highlights include:

  • Bus tour in one of the council's fleets of community buses and hear how these busses are used to support adult social care

  • Visiting one of the council’s diverse community centres to see how the council uses its money for community services

  • The Tourist Information Centre will offer insight into how it generates income for the town

  • Parks and open spaces to see how this contributes to adult social care in the town, as well as a joint lottery-funded project with the principal authority
