Civility and Respect Working Group

The Improvement and Development Board has set up a Civility and Respect Working Group to advance civility and respect standards issues within the sector and recommend further improvements to the board.

The working group prioritises the significant variances in how monitoring officers deal with standards complaints, reviews and relaunches the Civility and Respect Pledge, identifies ways to improve uptake, and lobbies for improved sanctions. These priorities will be reviewed at each meeting.

The working group recognises that there is no quick fix and is committed to identifying and sourcing resources and other tools that will help parish and town councils face challenges. The task force brings together various experts from different stakeholders and brings in other experts as needed.
