Head of policy and public affairs, Royal Town Planning Institute
Robbie Calvert is the head of policy and public affairs at the Royal Town Planning Institute, where he leads the development of strategic policy positions, practice guidance and research to advance the planning profession and influence national and local planning policy. With a strong background in planning policy, governance and evidence‑based practice, Robbie works closely with members, government, partners and stakeholders to shape debates on planning reform, placemaking, housing delivery and sustainable development. His role encompasses leadership on policy interpretation, practice standards and engagement with the wider built and natural environment sectors to ensure planning remains effective, equitable and responsive to contemporary challenges.

Campaigns lead, CPRE
Jackie Copley is a chartered planning professional with extensive experience in strategic planning policy, development management and local government advisory roles. She has worked across public and private sectors advising councils, developers and stakeholders on planning framework development, policy interpretation and best-practice implementation to support sustainable place-making. Jackie combines deep technical expertise in planning with practical insight into community engagement, spatial strategy and regulatory frameworks, helping organisations navigate complex planning challenges and deliver development that aligns with social, environmental and economic objectives. Her career reflects a commitment to robust, equitable planning practice and empowering local places through well-informed policy and decision-making.

Coordinator, Better Planning Coalition
Richard Hebditch has been the convenor of the Better Planning Coalition since February 2025. Between 2022 and 2024, he was UK director of the Brussels-based NGO Transport and Environment, and between 2008 and 2013, he was campaigns director at the Campaign for Better Transport. Prior to this, he worked as head of policy and campaigns at Living Streets. He also worked for six years as government affairs director at the UK's National Trust, including work after 2016 on Brexit's impact on environmental and future farming policy in the UK. He is also a board member of London TravelWatch. He originally studied Eastern European history for a Master's before working for an MP, in external affairs for various charities and NGOs, and briefly in the Cabinet Office working to improve relations between government and the voluntary sector.
