Deputy chief officer and responsible finance officer

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure statutory and legal compliance across all town council operations and governance.
- Oversee risk management processes to maintain organisational resilience and effective service delivery.
- Prepare agendas, attend meetings and produce accurate minutes for council and committee meetings.
- Manage official correspondence and communications on behalf of the town council.
- Monitor council performance and prepare reports on activities, projects and progress.
- Develop strategic proposals and provide professional advice to councillors on viability, impact and outcomes.
- Lead delivery of the town plan and delegated projects, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
- Manage and supervise staff in line with town council policies and procedures.
- Oversee staff performance reviews and ensure policies remain current and effective.
- Act as an ambassador and representative of the town council at meetings, events and sector forums.
- Prepare media statements and press releases in consultation with the chair.
- Maintain professional knowledge through training, qualifications and sector engagement.
- Build and maintain relationships with relevant organisations, professional bodies and local government networks.
