St Ives Town Council is seeking to appoint a dynamic and forward-thinking deputy town clerk to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality services for our community. 
 
Working closely with the town clerk, the successful candidate will help lead the town council’s operations ensuring that decisions are effectively implemented and that services continue to evolve to meet local needs. You will deputise for the town clerk as required, undertaking statutory and delegated responsibilities. 
 
The role is central to the town council’s democratic processes. You will oversee the preparation and administration of meetings, attending meetings where necessary. Ensure the recording of decisions are clear and that they are implemented lawfully and in line with agreed frameworks. 
 
As a senior officer, you will work collaboratively with elected members, staff and partners, providing professional advice and supporting the development of services and initiatives that benefit the residents of St Ives. 
 
We are looking for a motivated, community-focused individual with experience in a local government environment. You will bring strong managerial, organisational and communication skills, along with sound understanding of local government law and procedures. We welcome candidates who already hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) qualification or are keen to work towards it. We will help you to gain it as part of your role. 
 
The role requires attendance at some evening meetings and occasional weekend events, for which time of in lieu will be provided.
