Morecambe Town Council corporate peer challenge report published
The report outlines key recommendations, a summary of the peer challenge approach, feedback, priorities and outcomes, organisational and place leadership, governance and culture, financial planning and management, capacity to improve, and the next steps.
The Corporate Peer Challenge brings political and managerial leadership together through member and officer peers. The peer challenge provides robust, strategic and credible challenges and support to local (parish and town) councils, enhances the sector's capacity and helps avoid insularity within councils.
Morecambe is a seaside town in the county of Lancashire with a population of 34,590. Following a downturn in tourism at the end of the 20th century, it is entering a period of significant regeneration, the most prominent of which is the Eden Project Morecambe, which could be a catalyst to drive a positive future for the town.
NALC is seeking super councils (local councils with an annual precept of over £1m or an annual turnover of over £1.5m.) interested in taking on the Corporate Peer Challenge. To submit your interest, please contact NALC at [email protected].
