NALC achieves Cyber Essentials accreditation for the third consecutive year

We're proud to announce that we have successfully achieved Cyber Essentials accreditation for the third consecutive year. This milestone underscores our commitment to maintaining high cybersecurity standards and protecting data across its operations.

Cyber Essentials is a government-backed certification that helps organisations guard against the most common cyber threats and demonstrate their dedication to cybersecurity.

Our chair, Cllr Keith Stevens, welcomed the accreditation, stating, "Cyber security is more important than ever, and we are proud to lead by example in ensuring our systems are secure. This achievement demonstrates our ongoing commitment to safeguarding our data and digital services, and we encourage all local councils to take proactive steps to enhance their cyber resilience."

Our IT support provider, Cloudy IT, was key in assisting with the accreditation process. Martyn Boyle, security and incident response manager at Cloudy IT, commented: "Achieving Cyber Essentials for the third consecutive year is a fantastic accomplishment for the National Association of Local Councils (NALC). This certification highlights their proactive approach to cybersecurity and dedication to protecting their organisation and their members. At Cloudy IT, we are proud to support NALC in maintaining strong security measures, and we encourage all local councils to follow their lead in securing their digital infrastructure."

Cyber threats continue to evolve, and cyber criminals increasingly target local councils. Cyber Essentials provides a framework that helps organisations mitigate risks by implementing key security controls, such as secure firewalls, access controls, and malware protection. We urge all parish and town councils to consider obtaining Cyber Essentials accreditation to safeguard their digital assets and ensure resilience against cyber threats.
