NALC appoints new head of member services to shape future support

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Anders Hanson as our new head of member services, reinforcing our commitment to delivering high-quality support for parish and town councils.

Anders brings a wealth of experience to the role, alongside a strong understanding of the sector from both a professional and personal perspective. Having joined NALC in 2021 as member services manager, he has already played a key role in developing the organisation's support offer and strengthening engagement with members.

His wider career spans membership organisations across local government, community engagement, politics and transport. He has led work on strategic development, service improvement, research and policy, and organisational change, as well as building partnerships with government, funders and sector bodies.

Alongside his professional experience, Anders has been actively involved at a grassroots level, supporting community initiatives including a local festival and a walking tour business. He has also served as a local councillor, giving him first-hand insight into the opportunities and challenges facing parish and town councils and the communities they serve.

In his new role, Anders will lead the delivery of our member services, including specialist advice, digital tools and accreditation programmes. He will work closely with county associations and partners to further strengthen the support available to parish and town councils and ensure it continues to evolve to meet their needs.

Anders will take up the role on 1 April 2026.
