Waves of support for coastal towns

A share of £90m funding for seaside resorts is up for grabs.

NALC is urging local councils to join the rush for this cash. But bids have to be in by the end of next month.

Local councils, principal authorities, charities and private-sector companies can apply for this round of grants between £50,000 and £4m.

Bids for the latest round of grants (https://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/ccf) in England will close on 30 June, while organisations in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will be able to apply from early July.

Greg Clark, secretary of state for Communities and Local Government said: “Our Great British Coast has enormous economic potential and we are determined to see it thrive all year round.”

Cllr Ken Browse, chair of NALC, responded: “This represents a great opportunity for local councils to help invest in our much-loved seaside areas. We urge them to jump at a chance for a share of this £90m funding.”
