NALC launches Westminster Forum to strengthen the voice of parish and town councils

Today, we have officially launched the Westminster Forum, a new endeavour to champion and amplify the voice of England’s 10,000 parish and town councils at the heart of British politics.

At a time of major reform to local government, especially around the fast-moving devolution agenda, the Westminster Forum will bring together a passionate group of parliamentarians and sector advocates to strengthen the voice of parish and town councils and ensure their role is central to the future of public service delivery and local democracy.

By building a cross-party coalition of support in parliament, we'll strengthen our position as the authoritative voice for parish and town councils, build and deepen relationships with the government and parliament, ensure parish and town councils' concerns are heard and influence the legislative process, and support the sector's priorities.

The Westminster Forum will ensure the concerns and ambitions of parish and town councils are heard at the highest levels of politics. Our Westminster Forum is about influence, visibility, and meaningful engagement. Parish and town councils are at the frontline of community life, and this forum ensures their voice is not just heard but listened to at the highest levels of politics.
