NALC publishes a new template letter to engage with Pride in Place

We have published a new template letter as part of our Engaging Parliament Toolkit for parish and town councils to engage with their MP to discuss the Pride in Place programme and the potential inclusion of their council on neighbourhood boards.

The template letter highlights the vital role parish and town councils play as the first tier of local government in the communities that the programme is designed to serve. It also provides an opportunity for councils to demonstrate their locally rooted, community-focused work and how they can support the delivery of Pride in Place priorities.

Parish and town councils are well placed to contribute to neighbourhood boards, helping ensure decisions are connected to the wider community and reflect genuine local priorities. While final decisions on membership rest with board chairs, MPs can play an important role in supporting and advocating for the inclusion of parish and town councils.

The deadline for neighbourhood boards to confirm membership is 17 July 2026.
