NALC publishes its quarterly activity report
We have published our quarterly activity report covering October to December 2025.
The quarterly activity report details progress in delivering our strategic plan, including information on critical internal issues, parliamentary and government affairs work, events, finances, media coverage, publications and legal advice. It features updates from across all our work under different themed topics.
This quarter's report summarises the organisation's strategic direction and significant milestones during the reporting period. Key highlights include:
- 1,290 people attended our events in the last quarter. It includes online events on planning for the future (sold out), the art of communication, building a sustainable future, introduction to the Local Council Award Scheme, Assertion 10 made simple (sold out), and joint events with the Local Government Association, Local Democracy in Action (sold out) and People in Action.
- We called on the government to provide long-term, realistic funding to safeguard the future of the Post Office network.
- We urged the government to act quickly in legislating for the reforms in its response to the consultation on standards and conduct in local government.
- We welcomed efforts to modernise and simplify the licensing process in its response to the government's consultation on reforming the licensing system.
- We launched a new section on our website showcasing the briefings we produce for MPs and peers on key debates and legislation.
- We introduced a new IT Policy, designed to help parish and town councils meet the requirements set out in paragraph 1.54 of the proper practices.
- We launched a major new resource to help parish and town councils build confidence in data protection and a brand-new Assertion 10 Hub, providing parish and town councils with a comprehensive collection of tools, guidance and policies to help strengthen governance and compliance with the new Assertion 10.
- We published a new advice note on staffing considerations following a community governance review and updated our disciplinary policy.
- Ware Town Council in Hertfordshire was the latest council to take part in the Corporate Peer Challenge, and we took part in a review of Knutsford Town Council's Corporate Peer Challenge.
- We announced the prestigious Star Council Awards finalists.
- 13 parish and town councils were accredited under the Local Council Award Scheme (3 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze).
- There were 85 enrolments in the online courses we offer.
- We opened voting for our governance election in November, followed by announcing the results in December.
