New regional seminars to help smaller authorities prepare for digital AGAR
We're pleased to share information on digital Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) training through a new programme of Financial Regional Training Seminars, starting in September 2026.
The free, one-day seminars, funded by the Smaller Authorities' Audit Appointments, are designed to help manage, support or oversee the finances of smaller authorities.
The seminars will focus on several important developments, including updates to smaller authorities' proper practices, the transition to a fully digital AGAR, the new requirements for audit reports to be considered at public meetings, VAT essentials, and a case study from one of the digital AGAR pilot testers. The programme aims to equip attendees with the clarity and confidence needed to respond effectively and remain compliant.
The seminars are on 10 September 2026 (Derby County Football Club), 16 September 2026 (Holiday Inn Reading-South), 17 November 2026 (The Met) and 26 November 2026 (St. Mellion Estate).
Alongside the training, the seminars will offer valuable opportunities for attendees to network with peers, share experiences, and discuss common challenges facing the sector.
Free to attend, the events provide an accessible way for parish and town councils to prepare for forthcoming changes, including understanding the potential for future audit fee savings through early adoption of digital AGAR.
