NALC highlights parish power to Lords climate committee

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) has highlighted the importance of local (parish and town) councils combating climate change.

NALC has responded to the House of Lord's Environment and Climate Change Inquiry into mobilising action and climate change. NALC has urged the government that climate change and biodiversity emergencies are global problems that require grassroots solutions. Local councils of all sizes must be included in tackling the worldwide emergency and given the proper support.

Additionally, NALC highlighted that local councils are combating the crisis by planting trees, managing car-sharing and energy generation schemes, increasing recycling, engaging with residents, and working with other stakeholders.
