NALC calls for sustainable land use in a new Lords inquiry

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) has responded to a Lords inquiry into land use in England, urging the government for a sustainable approach to land use.

NALC said that a long-term and joined-up approach would address the linked issues of food security and climate and biodiversity emergency. NALC went on to say that for more successful land management in England, all relevant cross-sector stakeholders (including local planning authorities) must work together.

The inquiry will undertake a wide-ranging study of all aspects of land use in England and will look at how the government can develop a strategy to plan for any short-term or long-term changes in land use.
