Parishes field winners for Trust’s 2015 awards

Fields in Trust, has announced the winners of its 2015 Awards. Hosted by BBC sports and news broadcaster Ore Oduba at Lords Cricket Ground, the Awards celebrate the achievements of Fields in Trust and its partners, who have worked over the last year to ensure that everyone has access to protected outdoor recreational space.

The award winners are:

In addition to these categories above and to mark Fields in Trust’s 90th Year, a special award in celebration of the King George V Fields, established in memory of our Founder, two winning sites were each selected to receive £45,000, to provide improvements to their sites.  And they are Nailsworth Town Council and Worth Parish Council.

A public vote, "UK's Best Park as Voted by You!" saw Telford Town Park, Shropshire top the poll of 122 nominated parks, playing fields and recreation grounds across the UK. Other two shortlisted parks were Duthie Park in Aberdeen and Gheluvelt Park in Worcester, runners up in a close fought contest that saw around 8,500 votes cast in total.
