NALC announces the latest Local Council Award Scheme results

We have announced the latest quarterly results for the Local Council Award Scheme (LCAS).

Anstey Parish Council in Leicestershire and Rutland*, Swanley Town Council in Kent* and Wootton Parish Council in Bedfordshire* have all achieved the Gold Award. The Gold Award demonstrates that a council aspires to excellence and is at the forefront of best practice by achieving a high standard in community governance, leadership and performance management.

Bembridge Parish Council in Isle of Wight, Horsforth Town Council in Yorkshire, Kirton in Lindsey Town Council in East Riding and North Lincolnshire, Newton and Noss Parish Council in Devon, Taunton Town Council in Somerset* and West Moors Town Council in Dorset have all achieved the Silver Award. The Silver Award demonstrates that a council achieves good practice in governance, community engagement and council improvement, going beyond its legal obligations and continuously seeking opportunities to improve and develop.

Balderton Parish Council in Nottinghamshire, Brixworth Parish Council in Northamptonshire*, Good Easter Parish Council in Essex, Oakthorpe, Donisthorpe and Acresford Parish Council in Leicestershire and Rutland, Sedgefield Town Council in County Durham*, Trull Parish Council in Somerset*, West Hanningfield Parish Council in Essex, Wickham St Paul Parish Council in Essex, Witney Town Council in Oxfordshire and Writtle Parish Council in Essex* have all achieved the Bronze Award. The Bronze Award demonstrates that a council has the required documentation and information to operate lawfully and according to standard practice and has the foundations and policies for improvement and development in place.

LCAS celebrates the successes of parish and town councils and provides a framework to support all local councils in improving and developing to their full potential.

Congratulations to all parish and town councils awarded under the scheme, and we encourage more parish and town councils to become accredited.

* Achieved the award under the previous criteria for Quality Gold, Quality and Foundation levels, respectively.
