NALC launches new event to help councils strengthen governance and compliance

We have announced a new free event, Assertion 10 Made Simple: Strengthening Governance and Compliance, on 2 December 2025, to support parish and town councils in meeting their statutory responsibilities with confidence.

Assertion 10 of the Annual Governance Statement (Section 1 of the Annual Governance and Accountability Return) covers key areas including data protection, transparency, and accessibility. Areas that can often feel complex and challenging for parish and town councils.

To make compliance simpler and clearer, we have developed a suite of new resources. These resources include a practical step-by-step guide to managing data safely, a guide on website accessibility to ensure online presence is accessible to all residents, and an IT Policy designed to strengthen digital governance and improve council resilience.

The event will equip parish and town councils with the knowledge and tools they need to deliver transparent, compliant, and effective local governance.
