Housing minister writes to NALC chairman

Chris Pincher MP, minister of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has written to the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) chairman, Cllr Sue Baxter on neighbourhood planning and the government's reforms to the planning system.

Key points of the letter included:

  • Praise for local (parish and town) councils on how they have played an essential role in the success of neighbourhood planning, especially during the pandemic.
  • Restating the government's commitment to neighbourhood planning and the recent provision of additional funding.
  • Asking for NALC's involvement in the further development of planning reforms.

NALC has been engaging closely with the government on all these issues, and next week will be submitting a response to the Planning for the future white paper consultation.
