The University Of Surrey seeks views on climate and ecological emergencies

CLIMATECHANGE

The University of Surrey’s Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CES) has called on local (parish and town) councils to complete a survey on climate and ecological emergencies.

With many local councils declaring climate and ecological emergencies, the survey will assess how they are being monitored and evaluated by different user groups (which may or may not include sustainable development goals).

Currently, there are a plethora of different tools and approaches used to monitor and evaluate sustainability initiatives. However, without a standardised national system, their application is inconsistent.

Results from the survey will inform broader stakeholder engagement. The initial findings will feature in a workshop held in November 2021 to explore how different user groups are engaged in such monitoring and evaluation activities and what can be done to support them in this endeavour.

The survey closes on 11 February 2022.
