NALC urges the government to keep planning local

planning

This week, the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) urged the government to keep planning local in response to a significant national consultation. 

NALC responded to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) consultation on updating the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and strongly opposed the government’s suggested National Development Management Policy (NDMP), which could trump any local or neighbourhood plan. 

NALC continued to state that planning should be kept local and reaffirmed its belief in neighbourhood planning as the best vehicle to do this, but it required further strengthening.
