Climate emergency network discusses the National Planning Policy Framework

national network

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) National Network: Climate emergency met on 4 May 2023.

The network discussed NALC’s response to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities’ (DLUHC) consultation on the National Planning Policy Framework.

The next step in strengthening neighbourhood plans and the need to consider flash flooding in any local response was also discussed.

Andrew Maliphant, project manager at The Community Works, gave an update on the government’s place-based approach to net zero.

The meeting also suggested that NALC develop a template for terms of reference on climate change to include non-councillors. This would help with resourcing and implementing a climate change action plan.

The next National Network: Climate emergency meeting is on 27 July 2023.
