The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) held its first White Ribbon steering group meeting on 15 May 2023.

The White Ribbon steering group includes representatives from NALC, county associations and local (parish and town) councils, which consists of a county officer, councillor and clerk. The group aims to assist NALC's White Ribbon accreditation process in helping engage men and boys in the fight to end violence against women and girls.

The meeting outlined the proposal, endorsed by NALC's Management BoardPolicy Committee and women councillors network, discussed the development of the three-year action plan, and a conversation of activities and ideas to get involved with. The group agreed to achieve White Ribbon accreditation by White Ribbon Day on 25 November 2023 and implement the three-year action plan.

The next White Ribbon steering group meeting is scheduled for June 2023 to discuss the action plan further and the next steps. NALC will continue to provide further updates and information when they become available.
