NALC partners with De Montfort University to conduct a local election survey

survey

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) and De Montfort University (DMU) have opened a survey for local (parish and town) councils and county associations on the 2023 local elections.

In a collaborative effort to better understand and improve the dynamics of local council elections in the United Kingdom, NALC has partnered with DMU’s Local Governance Research Centre (LGRC) to conduct a comprehensive survey focused on the 2023 local council elections.

The research aims to gather valuable insights into the intricacies of local elections, ultimately enhancing support mechanisms for their smooth execution and reducing the necessity of co-option. By seeking input from the local councils and county associations directly involved in the 4 May 2023 elections, NALC and DMU intend to gather data to pave the way for more effective and localised electoral processes.

NALC and DMU seek one response per local council from the mayor, the chair or the clerk and one response per county association from areas where elections took place in 2023.
