SUMMARY
As proper officer, you will assist and advise councillors on formulating policies and fulfilling the legal and financial obligations of the council. You will be responsible for managing council business and executing council resolutions. You will assume line management of the deputy town clerk.
As responsible financial officer, you will oversee the financial management of the council and prepare financial and other reports for the council.
Contracted hours will be 29 per week, to include evening meetings with additional time as required.
Relevant experience in local government or a similar public service is preferred, along with being an organised, conscientious and effective team leader and manager. Communication and IT skills and an ability to work successfully and impartially with diverse groups, including our eleven councillors, residents, community organisations, neighbouring local councils, Cotswold District and Gloucestershire county councils, contractors and others is required.
You will preferably hold (or be willing to achieve) the certificate in local council administration (CiLCA). The council will support any reasonable training costs.
