The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) teamed up with Communities Prepared and Cullompton Town Council to deliver its latest online event on emergency planning on 29 March 2023.

The event covered local (parish and town) councils' essential role in communities and how they must be prepared for potential emergencies.

The expert panel featured Finn Woodhill, senior project officer at Communities Prepared, and Steve Reardon, deputy town clerk at Cullompton Town Council. They spoke about being prepared for emergencies such as climate-related events and public health crises like COVID-19. They set out what an emergency plan was and how to develop one. They highlighted local councils' critical role in creating a locally informed, locally led form of resilience planning.
