Larger Councils elections

Four places for direct election to the NALC Larger Councils’ Committee for the tenure November 2014 - 2016 will be available from the date of the NALC Larger Councils’ Conference – 03 December 2014.

All member larger councils are welcome to nominate one of its members to compete for election for one of these four places for that tenure.

The NALC Larger Councils’ Committee meets four times a year and represents the interests of larger councils with; either an income or spend of over £250,000 per year or electorate of more than 6,000.

The work of the committee feeds into the National Association’s lobbying programme representing the policy interests of the larger councils.

2015 Meeting Dates:

  •     20 January 2015 – London

  •     28 April 2015 – London

  •     6-7 July 2015 – Away Visit to a Larger Council

  •     20 October 2015 – London

 


How to Apply

Please complete the nomination form and ensure it is properly counter-signed by your council then return to Claire FitzGerald.

All candidates are asked to the form and return electronically as a word document. Information will be extrapolated from the nomination form for voters to read.

Only one nomination per larger member council for the Larger Councils’ Committee will be accepted.

The deadline for receipt of completed forms is close of play on Friday, 17 October 2014.

Election Process:

Voting can be done electronically from 27 October right up to 3 December 2014.  Electronic voting will also be available for attendees at the Larger Councils' Conference on 3 December 2014, provided your council has not already voted.

Nominated candidates are welcome to attend and speak at the Committee Hustings between 12:30 p.m. and 13:00 at the NALC Larger Councils’ Conference, on 03 December, 2014.

Member larger councils will vote for their four preferred candidates and the four candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected. In the event of a tied vote for the final place, this will be decided by the toss of a coin.
